1948 FA CUP FINAL

Sir Matt's first trophy with us, a thrilling Final where Busby's first great team beat the then mighty Blackpool in a pulsating game. The team wore a stunning Royal blue shirt with the Manchester Coat of Arms emblazoned on the badge.

1957 FA CUP FINAL

The mythical Busby Babes made it to the Final at Wembley, favourites to complete the domestic Double against Aston Villa. However, the boys lost the game 2-1 after the Villa unfairly smashed into Ray Wood, the United goalkeeper, and shattered his cheekbone. as there were no subs in those days, Jackie Blanchflower went in goal, with Wood making up the number in the outfield, but United were effectively down to 10 men, and just couldn't get past a full strength Villa side on the day.

1958 FA Cup Final

An emotional chapter in the Club's history. Less than three months after the Munich Disaster wiped out half the fabled and much loved Busby Babes, the Club valiantly dragged itself to the Cup Final with some stirring victories along the way. this time they faced Bolton, who again thanks to some rough and boderline unfair tactics, had too much for the patched up and thrown together side, and forced United to be runners-up for the second year running. Many believe the crest to be a Phoenix, representing the Club's emergence from the Munich Disaster, but this is not true. It is again based on the Manchester Coat of Arms, and the bird is actually an Eagle.

1963 FA Cup Final

Sir Matt Busby's first trophy post-Munich, and the start of a new period of success for the club from Old Trafford. United were actually underdogs for this game, having struggled in the league during the season, unlike their opponents, Leicester City, who had had a strong campaign. United ran out 3-1 winners, goals from The King Denis Law and David Herd, making sure the FA Cup returned to Manchester for the third time in the Club's history.
